Completed: Susanne Vest

I finished this vest a while ago, but didn’t bother to photograph it because I was feeling disappointed with how it turned out.

The pattern is the Susanne Vest.  The yarn is Cascade 220 Sport, which I enjoyed knitting with.  I love the cables down the front and back, and the color of the yarn.

What I’m less thrilled with is how it fits.  It’s too short and the armholes are tad tight.  The back could also use some shaping.  I blocked it pretty aggressively, hoping I could fix it.   Although it helped, it’s still not quite right.   So sadly, I’m not sure how much use I will get out of this little vest.

Knitting failures are so much more disappointing to me than sewing failures.  I think it’s because of the time invested in knitting a garment.  In theory I could re-knit this to fit better.  But I have absolutely no motivation to do that.  I’d rather just start a new project.

Here’s hoping I’ll have better luck with my knitted garments in 2014!

  1. Hmmm – how would it look with a full skit or even over a dress? Maybe that would turn the short length into a positive feature? I love the colour on you – hope you can make it work!
